Petco teams up with hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg for an innovative pet-care campaign. Petco has partnered with hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg for a new pet-care campaign, the company said Wednesday. The collaboration features Petco Picks by Snoop, which include toys, treats and grooming supplies, and offers social content showcasing behind-the-scenes footage of Snoop Dogg with pets, including his reflections on being a devoted dog owner, Petco said in a press release. "My pets gotta look good, feel good, smell good," Snoop Dogg said. The campaign's first ad showcases Snoop Dogg as the human form of a Doberman Pinscher, a nod to the rapper's 1993 hit "Who Am I?

The retailers, which both released their quarterly earnings on Wednesday, began investing heavily into pet health when the pandemic-fueled pet boom saw 23 million American households welcome a new animal into their homes. The boom turned the overall pet market into a $123.6 billion dollar powerhouse in 2021, and it's expected to grow. Pet health care – and the high margins that come with it – is a crucial component to that overall market. It changed its name to Petco Health and Wellness Company in 2020. Pet adoptions surged during the pandemic, triggering a surge in demand for pet goods.
Earnings beat estimates, but sales came up short of Wall Street forecasts. Petco (WOOF) – Petco's adjusted quarterly earnings of 16 cents per share matched Street forecasts, but revenue was slightly above estimates. CrowdStrike (CRWD) – CrowdStrike plunged 17.6% in the premarket after the cybersecurity company's subscription numbers came in below analyst forecasts. NetApp (NTAP) – NetApp tumbled 10.9% in the premarket on a weaker than expected forecast from the cloud computing company, which reported better than expected quarterly earnings. Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) – Hewlett Packard Enterprise added 1.9% in the premarket after the enterprise computing company reported record quarterly sales and issued strong revenue guidance.
The National Retail Federation expects holiday sales growth of about 6% to 8% over 2021 — about in line with inflation. Adobe Analytics is predicting U.S. online sales during November and December will grow 2.5% from last year. "The last few years, we actually saw an incredible amount of sales demand momentum, if you will, really early in the season." Her observations, which are based on data from hundreds of clients she works with, echo findings from Adobe Analytics, released Wednesday, that show a slow start to online sales in November. "I think [investors] should expect a continued commitment to sustainable growth and what we mean by that is sort of aggressive, ambitious growth coupled with expanding profitability," he said.
